OUR FEMALE TROUPERS

Fiona Barratt-Campbell | Founder

What are you passionate about at FBC London? Firstly, working with an eclectic mixture of luxurious materials and tactile finishes – exploring bespoke textiles which evoke curiosity, creating a connection between the piece and owner. Secondly, traditional artisanal techniques and trying to bridge the gap between ground-level, grass-roots craft and high-end design.

The V&A’s Frida Kahlo exhibition tells her life story through objects. Name one object you couldn’t live without? I really couldn’t be without my husband and three children. If we’re talking objects – my Nespresso Coffee Machine. It’s saved my life on numerous occasions.

Name a woman who inspires you and why?  Definitely my Mother. Her determination and strength have inspired me to build my business whilst having a family and all the demands that both involve. I have chosen to embody Frida, not only for her influence as a feminist icon, but to transcend ideals and cultivate her identity, drawing parallels between design and creativity. FBC London have shown respect through Frida’s life which is reflected in the photography.

Georgina Shelley | Creative Director

What are you passionate about at FBC London? Everything. The direction and pace of the company excites me. Fiona is fearless in her approach to design. It doesn’t matter how crazy the idea or concept is, there is a real drive towards pushing the boundaries of creation to produce something new and that’s what feeds my passion.

The V&A’s Frida Kahlo exhibition tells her life story through objects. Name one object you couldn’t live without? Two items. One being my dad’s watch. The second being my grandmother’s ring which I wear without fail. This inspiring woman was my biggest critic whilst growing up, who taught me the bare bones of being a creative.

Name a woman who inspires you and why? Fiona is a true inspiration, not only to me but to the whole company. Her passion towards what she believes in and her vision for the company’s future is what motivates us daily. We live in an incredibly fast paced world – it reflects the stamina in which Fiona works in and in which we all follow suit.

Helen Gilchrist | Senior Sales Executive

What are you passionate about at FBC London? The amazing selection of innovative textures that we use. Be it for wall panelling or finishes on a Media Unit, the exciting capabilities of what we can offer here sets us apart from our competitors.

The V&A’s Frida Kahlo exhibition tells her life story through objects. Name one object you couldn’t live without? My original 1960’s tomato red Roberts radio. The brass details and bright leather cover is the first bit of happiness I see when I wake up every morning.

Name a woman who inspires you and why? My mother. She’s had to rebuild herself and stand alone many times through her life; Her patience to the dramas faced and finding strength when her life has been torn, gives me courage that no matter what may happen – “there’s always a solution” - as she often says.
